About Me

Welcome! I am a mostly self-taught artist painting with oils and occasionally acrylics. I also enjoy traveling with my husband (Scott) and drinking great wine. My creative voice is constantly changing and growing and I feel the most satisfaction in my life when I'm using that voice to create something... whether it's a modern art painting, building a piece of furniture, or designing an interior or landscape. I'm always up for a new creative challenge! These days, the challenge is abstract art...I hope you like what falls out of my brain and onto my canvases!

Art is my therapy! My love for abstract art began while I was still a young pup. I had a swift realization in every art class that what was falling out of my brain was vastly different from most of the people around me. I was DRAWN to abstract. It spoke to my mind. I started painting, mostly to quiet the chaos that was in my mind. Starting with portraits and pets, then slowly moving into modern art painting. I love the freedom they provide and the story they tell of my life. It's true what Picasso says: "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary." My favorite type of painting is the organic kind. Not knowing where the first marks will take me, but being thrilled with the way I can stand back and see what my brain and fingers were able to duke out. 

My goal is to continue to grow in my knowledge and skill as an abstract artist. I have to say that abstract painting can be a real challenge! Anyone who thinks "anyone can do it" has likely never attempted more than one or two paintings... myself included! I used to say something similar. My tune has changed and I am humbled daily at the challenges that abstract works present. I am also very grateful to have so many people who have supported my endeavor. I honestly never expected much more than a closet full of trial and error, but instead, I've receieved so much support and encouragement to continue--and have even been able to grace a few walls with my works. Wow. What a cool privilege to be able to share my love of modern art painting!
